JOSIAH PATTERSON: SURROUNDED BY OCEAN
Josiah Patterson’s natural light portrait and lifestyle photography perfectly captures the spirit of island life. He mixes both film and digital photography, edited with our Replichrome Presets , to portray a world of tranquil beauty.
What inspires you as a photographer?
I’m lucky to have grown up and live in a place where I’m surrounded by the ocean. There’s something special about it. For me, it’s calming, peaceful and beautiful. This is what I hope to capture in my photographs.
How does Replichrome I: Icon fit into your workflow?
Replichrome I: Icon has been amazing, in that it has given me the tools to create photographs that look just like film. I had a recent client say that he could not tell if my images were shot on film or digital. That’s a win in my book. When I have a photo that I like, I first apply a Replichrome Preset and adjust exposure, contrast and white balance. Then I’ll add or reduce grain to my liking. After that, all I have to do is export. My favorite presets are the film stocks I shoot in real life, which are Kodak Ektar 100 and Kodak Portra 160. For black and white, I love using the Kodak BW 400CN + preset. For me, it has the perfect balance of contrast and grain.
