KEEP MOTIVATED
Jess Marvel is a Midwest lady living in Southern California. She is taking a break from her career as a wedding photographer to pursue being a pastry chef. Luckily for us, her new passion doesn’t keep her from taking pictures, and her Instagram feed is full of images that capture her spirit of adventure.
What does mobile photography mean to you?
To me, mobile photography means creativity in my back pocket. It means being able to document life as it happens, it’s sort of freeing if you know what I mean. There were so many times before I had a camera phone where I wished I was able to capture something beautiful going on around me, and that’s exactly what mobile photography has allowed me to do. It’s a way for me to share moments and experiences as they are happening with friends and family across the country. It also keeps me motivated to keep shooting. Apps like instagram are kind of like having a photography class to me. After graduating with a fine arts photography degree, I felt a little sad not having that connection I did with my classmates anymore. Things like sharing, critiquing and being inspired by each other’s artwork, that’s something that mobile photography and instagram have brought back to me.
What is your favorite PicTapGo feature?
I F-ing love PicTapGo! First, let me say that I am a long time user of Totally Rad Actions. So, getting PicTapGo for me was a must. I knew it would be totally awesome, and it totally delivered. I love that the filters aren’t too harsh, and that they enhance the photo instead of taking it over. Also, being able to control how much of the filter you want to use is great! I’m definitely a Skinny Jeans girl.
