KIM SWAIN: THE BEAUTY OF STILL LIFE
Kim Swain began her creative journey in illustration and manga comics. A little over three years ago something changed, and she began expressing her art through photography. She has since built a successful wedding and portrait studio.
I kind of fell into photography unintentionally, and now I can’t stop. Most of my photos are just documenting my day-to-day life. I never go out looking to photograph something specific, but tend to get lost in the quiet, and just observe until I happen upon something. I am always drawn to interesting light and rich colors. Nature and my children (cooperative or not) are the biggest influences on my work.
Replichrome I: Icon is fantastic! I was so excited to incorporate film emulation into my work, and, being a former TotallyRad! customer, knew it would fit my style well. After using it, I am so happy with the results. I attain the look I’m going for with minimal processing. Plus, there is a huge range of presets and everything is customizable! Not only do I use it for my fine art photos, but also on weddings and portraits. It has sped up my workflow significantly. I love anything Portra (Noritsu -) and my go to black and white is Kodak Plus-X 125—.
