GET BACK TO EXPLORING
Charis Rowland is an incredible photographer who perfectly balances capturing moments and living them.
I’m a wife and mom, first and foremost, and I’ve recently started taking clients as a natural light family photographer in St. Louis, MO. I strive to find genuine emotion and beautiful light in all of my work.
What does mobile photography mean to you?
Mobile photography has become this amazing creative outlet that I didn’t even realize I needed. I have always been drawn to photographs, but I didn’t start trying to take good ones, myself, until my husband and I started traveling regularly. There is so much beauty out there, and I wanted to stop and savor a bit of it and share it with others. Now, I love to make beautiful images but I’m finding more and more that there’s this delicate balance of using what’s around me to create but also being really present, especially with my family. Mobile photography makes my process quick and easy so I can get back to playing and exploring and not bugging everyone with my camera in their face!
What is your favorite PicTapGo feature?
I adore the PicTapGo App! It is, hands down, the most user friendly editing app I’ve tried. I love how many options it gives me for filters, and that I can change the opacity of each one and stack them. And saving my “recipes” is such a time saver. Almost all of my underwater photos get a bit of “crispity” and “auto color.” It cuts right through that bluish haze. I’m also a big fan of “Brooklyn” for B&W;’s and I use “skinny jeans” on most of my images to lift the blacks.
